Changes in the dissemination, consumption and presentation of classical music are very rapid, and the profession of the musician is also changing. This paper considers the response of higher music institutions to these changes and the way in which schools are responding to the changing environment in the context of the needs of the labour market and the so-called portfolio career of the musician. The article focuses on the employment of graduates of music colleges and the response of Czech educational institutions to changes in music profession, on the European and Czech labour market in music.
