Cadmium tolerance and accumulation in transgenic tobacco plants with a yeast metallothionein combined with a polyhistidine tail

  • Original language description

Cadmium accumulation and tolerance were tested using tobacco, bearing the transgene coding for polyhistidine cluster, combined with yeast metallothionein (HisCUP). Addition of 5.4 mg cadmium per litre induced symptoms of cadmium toxicity in the control tobacco, and the highest dose of cadmium was lethal. HisCUP showed increasing resistance to the stress response induced by cadmium and doubled Cd accumulation in harvestable parts

  • Czech name

Schopnost tolerovat a akumulovat kadmium u transgenních rostlin tabáku nesoucích kvasničný metalothionein ve fúzi s polyhistidinovou kotvou

  • Czech description

HisCUP vykazuje zvýšenou rezistenci vůči stresu indukovanému kadmiem a dvojnásobnou akumulaci Cd v nadzemních částech
