Original language description
Pregnanolone isomers (PI) are neuroinhibitors modulating GABAA receptors. In addition to the brain's in situ synthesis, some circulating steroids can penetrate the blood-brain barrier. To assess the physiological impact, PI and conjugates were measured in women in various phases of the menstrual cycle using GC/MS and RIA for the analysis. The levels of conjugated PI were higher than that of free steroids. Levels reflected changes in progesterone formation during the menstrual cycle.

Czech description
Pregnanolonové isomery (PI) jsou neuroinhibitory modulující GABAA receptory. Kromě syntézy in situ v mozku, některé cirkulující steroidy mohou prostoupit hematoencefalickou barierou. Ke zhodnocení fysiologického vlivu byly měřeny hladiny PI u žen v různých fázích menstruačního cyklu pomocí GC/MS a RIA analýzy. Hladiny konjugovaných PI jsou vyšší než hladiny volných steroidů. PI včetně konjugátů odrážejí změny v tvorbě progesteronu během menstruačního cyklu.
