On a group of 730 patients with RCC we examined expression of CAIX antigen. CAIX was present in 97% of tumors, 22.3% tumors exhibited low expression. Univariately, low CAIX expression was associated with increased risk of RCC death compared to high expression (risk ratio 1.65, p<0.001). However, low CAIX was not an independent marker after adjusting for nuclear grade or coagulative tumor necrosis.

Czech description

Na souboru 730 pacientů s adenokarcinomem ledviny jsme zjišťovali souvislost mezi intensitou exprese antigenu CAIX a rizikem smrti. CAIX jsme nalezli v 97% nádorů, v 22.3% byla exprese nízká. Ta byla asociována se zvýšeným risikem smrti v jednostranném srovnání s vysokou expresí (risikový factor 1.65, p<0.001). Není však nezávislým znakem po zvážení jiných histopatologických parametrů.
