Membrane potential governs lateral segregation of plasma membrane proteins and lipids in yeast

  • Original language description

Using the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a model organism, we have discovered a novel role of the membrane potential in the organization of the plasma membrane. We show that plasma membrane depolarization causes reversible re-distribution of H+-symporters, not however of the Sur7 or Pma1p proteins

Membránový potenciál řídí laterální segregaci proteinů a lipidů v plasmatické membráně kvasinek

  • Czech description

Na modelu kvasinky Saccharomyces cerevisiae jsme objevili novou roli membránového potenciálu při uspořádání plasmatické membrány. Ukázali jsme, že depolarizace membrány má za následek reversibilní redistribuci protonových symportérů, avšak neovlivní distribuci proteinů Sur7p a Pma1p
