Original language description
Genetic mutations and phenotypic changes primarily affect the behavior of the cancer cells and their relations with the surrounding cells. Reframing the problem in microenvironmental prospective, we could say that the very early modifications induced by an initial neoplasm on the stroma and the cells of the host tissue elicit host responses more addressed to the maintenance of local homeostasis than primarily directed against the cancer cells, as transformed cells.
