Changing the grain-size distribution of blast furnace slag due to compaction
Original language description
In recent years, attention was focused on the in-situ test compaction effect on the grain-size distribution curve. Compaction can cause breaking of larger grains to smaller ones. Blast furnace slag belongs to secondary materials, for that is typical highdegree of degradation during compaction. Changing of the grain-size distribution has a negative effect on the material properties such as frost susceptibility or strength parameters. The paper deals with precise preparation of samples and laboratory simulation of compaction by proctor standard method or Los Angeles abrasion test. For the preparation of samples for tests, it is necessary to split the original amount of the aggregate into smaller samples. The grain-size distribution of artificial aggregates is observed before and after the proctor standard test. It represents the state before and after compaction of the construction layers. Los Angeles abrasion value show degree of aggregate's damage
