Nucleation characteristics of allotriomorphic/ATF/and idiomorphic ferrite/IDF/are studied.ATF has ferrite morphology formed at relatively small undercolling below Ac3 temperature.ATF affects the subsequent austenite phase decomposition.For this reason its study is of vital importance.Parameters influencingATF formation are analysed.The mechanism of intragranular IDF nucleation is investigated.The effects of different nucleant types on the IDF formation inclusive theier interfacial properties are discussed.
