Physical engineering characteristics of idiomorphic ferrite formation
Original language description
Mechanism of intragramular ferrite nucleation is investigated. Intragranular idiomorphic ferrite (IDF) nucleates at particles situated in austenite matrix (non-metallic inclusions and/or precipitates) which can develop coherent, low energy interface withferrite. IDF represents an important variant of reconstructive austenite decomposition in comparison with allotriomorphic ferrite (ATF) which nucleates at austenite grain boundaries, preferentially. Model of IDF formation and its growth are presented.
