COMPETITIVE FORMATION OF IDIOMORPHIC AND ALLOTRIOMORPHIC FERRITE AND CORRESPONDING PHYSICAL METALLURGY CONSEQUENCES
Original language description
Nucleation characteristics of allotriomorphic (ATF) and idiomorphic ferrite (IDF) are studied. ATF has ferrite morphology formed at relatively small undercooling below Ac3 temperature. ATF affects the subsequent austenite phase decomposition. For this reason its study is of vital importance. Parameters influencing ATF formation are analysed. The mechanism of intragranular IDF nucleation is investigated. The effects of different nucleant types on the IDF formation inclusive their interfacial properties are discussed.
