Kinetics and biosorption efficiency cr(VI) by using peach stones (Prunus persica)

  • Original language description

This article deals with the study of hexavalent chromium kinetics using peach stones (Prunus persica) from aqueous solution. It is also evaluated where the sorption efficiency of hexavalent chromium using peach stones is the highest. To study the kinetics of both non-activated and activated biosorbents were used five sized fractions, these are <0.5, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 and 4-5 mm. To get biosorbent activated, the hydrochloric acid in concentrations of 0.01 mol / l; 0.1 mol / l and 1 mol / l was used. Activation of concentrations mentioned above took place for 15, 30, 60 and 90 minutes. It has been also studied influence of pH, temperature and biosorbent concentration for the whole Cr(VI) biosorption process. The highest Cr(VI) sorption capacity was determined when using the currently studied biosorbent, which was adjusted to the grain size of <0.5 mm and activated by hydrochloric acid of 1 mol / l for 30 min. Biosorption conditions were investigated on samples activated by 1M hydrochloric acid in order to improve the sorption capacity. It seems that the best way to implement biosorption of Cr(VI) in our case is at pH 1 aqueous solution. It has been demonstrated that temperature effect and biosorbent concentration did not have any effect to the whole biosorption process, compared to pH influence.
