Analysis of crack formation in ceramic material by repeated indentation loading
Original language description
In this study the damage of surface area in ceramic materials under local compressive loading by use of cyclic indentation technique known as indentation fatigue is investigated. The solution is based on the repeated indentations with a sharp indenter onthe evaluation of relations between the indentation load and the number of indentation cycles leading to the chipping formation. The number of cycles to chipping formation and the size of chipping area are measured. The rate of lateral cracks growth isincluded in the present study.
