Electrochemical behavior of biocompatible titanium alloys
Original language description
Titanium alloys, for their excellent mechanical, physical and biological performance, are finding ever-increasing application in biomedical devices. This paper provides information about microstructure and electrochemical behavior Ti6Al4V, Ti6Al4V afterforging and Ti22Nb alloys. The microstructure of alloys was studied using light microscopy, the samples for metallographic observation was polished and etched in Kroll´s reagent. Electrochemical experiments were performed in 0.15M (0.9%) physiological sodium chloride solution at room temperature (22?1°C). The corrosion rate was determined using the Tafel extrapolation method.
