Study and Characteristics of Nanostructured Composite Materials Using Electron Microscopy
Original language description
This paper addresses study and structural characteristics of nanostructured composite materials using scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Composite materials with clay matrix kaolinite/TiO2 and ZnO/kaolinrespectively have nearly similar structure where micron-sized kaolinite or kaoline sheet particles were covered with nanoparticles or their clusters. Difference in homogeneity was observed. Other group of examined composite materials was created with composites with graphite matrix - graphite/TiO2 and ZnO/graphite. Micron-sized graphite sheets were covered with thin film of TiO2 in the case of graphite/TiO2 composite. Contrary to that the ZnO nanoparticles were attached non-homogenously to the graphite surface. Electron microscopy is very useful technique for characterization of nanostructured composite materials.
