Agile Software Development is a very good way to deliver the best possible software solution within agreed time-frame and costs. However, it has certain prerequisites and experience is needed to avoid common pitfalls. Sometimes agile software developmentis a software company's standardised process; on the other side it is quite new for the customer. Moreover, in some cases the project team is missing members experienced in agile way of working. Teams and organisations may also encounter different challenges during the implementation of software projects. The purpose of this article is to summarize the key agile software development benefits, its implementation challenges and some ideas how to avoid potential problems or pitfalls.
