The paper deals with organizational structures, particularly focused on hypertext organizational structure that seems to be very beneficial at the present time. They are discussed due to knowledge and increasingly knowledge-based society. The aim of thispaper is to show on literature based research and secondary analysis the growing influence and role of organizational development to organization life. Partial goal is to point to the likely transition to an organizational structure that would lead to adeeper involvement of employees, increase their activity and thus to the organization development. It cannot be create a single optimal organizational structure, because each organization is different. But there are challenges that are common to all organizations to which the organization must or should respond, through its organizational structure and organizational culture in order to remain competitive.
