Original language description
Paper deals with an exploration of cohesion and competitiveness concepts in the framework of the European integration. Cohesion is evaluated by measuring the levels of disparities; competitiveness is assessed by measuring of degrees of efficiency. Analysis of cohesion and competitiveness is provided within 83 NUTS 2 regions in case of Visegrad Four, Austria and Germany during reference period 2000-2010. Evaluation of cohesion is based on selected mathematical and statistical methods that lead to construction of synthetic indices of disparities. Evaluation of competitiveness is based on Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method to multi-criteria efficiency evaluation.
