Original language description
Competency models, which should be designed for all key positions in the company, show what competencies are necessary for individual position(s). The question is what the key competencies in each position are. Main objective of this paper is to presentresults from a pilot research aimed at utilization of the analytic hierarchy process method (AHP) in competency modeling and to determine key competencies within the competen cy model and rank them in order of importance. Firstly, the author deals with the description of competency models, its development and utilization. Secondly, the AHP method is described. Thirdly, the author presents how the competencies can be decomposed and AHP is used to determine and rank key competencies. At the conclusion ofthis article the author deals with the models? evaluation results.
