Main objective of this paper is to present results from a pilot research aimed at utilization of the analytic hierarchy process method (AHP) in competency modeling and total remuneration, the intangible and tangible rewards and to determine key competencies within the competency model and rank them in order of importance for one key position i.e. the process engineer in a company which manufactures automotive parts. Firstly, the authors deal with the description of competency models, total remunerationand its components. Secondly, the AHP method is described. Thirdly, the authors illustrate how the competencies and total rewards can be decomposed and AHP is used to determine and rank key competencies and the tangible and intangible rewards. At the conclusion of this article the authors use TOPSIS method to link most preferred tangible and intangible remuneration to employees? appraisal, which is now based on the key competencies.
