Possibilities of processing waste coffee grounds using pyrolysis
Original language description
Poster at ICCT 2023. Coffee is a very popular beverage worldwide, which is prepared from roasted coffee beans, more than 500 billion cups of coffee are prepared annually 1. The resulting coffee grounds currently have no significant use. Due to the large amount of organic compounds such as polysaccharides, tannins, lipids, amino acids, minerals, aliphatic acids, proteins, alkaloids, oligosaccharides, phenols and others, landfilling of coffee grounds can pose serious environmental problems2. Thanks to its properties, coffee grounds can be used as a raw material for the production of biochar.
