ATTITUDE OF NURSES TO GERIATRIC PATIENTS IN THE CONTEXT OF JOB SATISFACTION
Original language description
The contribution reflects the theme of job satisfaction of nurses in relation to geriatric patients. It focuses on the impact of geriatrization of medicine on nurses. The aim of the research is to find out their attitude to geriatric patients and how they perceive their care. As research tool, semantic differential is used, which works with 8 concepts. There's a questionnaire applied as well, revealing the job satisfaction of nurses working with geriatric patients. The results of both methods are compared and interpreted. The research was conducted in selected departments of a certain medical unit. Questionnaire survey points to nurses' dissatisfaction with geriatrization of medicine. Nurses state that while having a positive relationship with geriatric patients, up to one fifth of them would prefer to work with non-geriatric patients. The semantic differential subsequently pointed out that the attitude of all surveyed nurses to senior patients is rather negative.
