Artists from the Lombardy-Ticino Lake Region in the Service of Bishop Karl von Lichtenstein-Castelcorno

  • Original language description

Many artists and craftsmen who worked in Moravia in the 17th century for Bishop Karl von Lichtenstein-Castelcorno came from a small area around Lake Lugano, from the region of Ticino and the Lombardy region. The study not only explains this phenomenon of artistic migration, its characteristics, but also deals with the strategies of these artists to get contracts. It analyzes how they got into the bishop's service and what they created for the bishop.
