A Methodology of Translatological and Sociological Cooperation in Data Collection, Analysis, and Interpretation
Original language description
The study presents a methodology of joint translatological-sociological cooperation in data collection, analysis, and interpretation in the area of translation strategies developed as a part of ongoing research on norms of literary translation from English to Czech in the time period 2000-2016. In order to identify norms on the basis of translation strategies, it is imperative to cover both the translated texts and translators and their practice. That is why the key research methods are textual analyses and semistructured interviews with translators. The connection of these two methods allows for a fusion of the observable results of translation practice with both translators’ social contextualisation and their reflection of practice (doxa).
