Die Vorstellung der künstlerischen Avantgarde als Netzwerk mag in vielerlei Hinsicht hilfreich sein, erweist sich jedoch bei der Probe aufs Exempel als nicht ganz unproblematisch: Die gängigen Belege für ein avantgardistisches Netzwerk legen nahe, dass sich die Avantgarde vieler Vernetzungen bediente, die teilweise alles andere als avantgardistisch waren. In dieser Hinsicht ist die Vorstellung der Avantgarde als Netzwerk umzudenken.
