The half-day pronunciation workshop under the title &quot;The Pronunciation Toolbox: Teaching the Sounds of English&quot; took place on December 6 (9.00-12.30) at the Faculty of Arts of the Palacký University Olomouc. It was organized by the Department of English and American Studies. The workshop was aimed at pre-service and novice in-service teachers of English as a foreign language. The total of 42 participants attended, 5 teachers, 11 students from the Faculty of Education and 26 students from the Faculty of Arts. To encourage interaction between the presenters and the audience, the participants were divided into two groups.The organizes invited two presenters:Prof. Alice Henderson from the Université Grenoble-Alpes and dr. Alexey Tymbay from the Technical University in Liberec. Prof. Henderson&apos;s part of the workshop was entitled &quot;Using a communicative framework to create and sequence pronunciation exercises&quot;. (Annotation: Foreign language teachers often draw on authentic sources (e.g., poems, short stories, news articles, funny GIFs, billboards or other forms of advertising) to create their own teaching materials. But how do they decide what to use and how do they modify things to target pronunciation learning? How do they arrange exercises in a sequence? In short, is it possible to impose some order on the vast number of possibilities? That is the challenge you face as a teacher of foreign language pronunciation. If your goal for your learners is for them to successfully communicate, then you need to guide them there. Using the Communicative Framework proposed by Celce-Murcia and colleagues. In this hands-on workshop we will analyse exercises and see how to ‘tweak’ them, so that they help you to help your learners.) Prof- Henderson&apos;s presentation was supported by the travel grant from FF UP.Dr. Tymbay&apos;s presentation was on Visualizing pronunciation (Annotation: Recognising speech intelligibility as the ultimate goal of any pronunciation teaching, the workshop suggests considering targeted pronunciation practice as a quick and efficient way to raise learners’ pronunciation awareness. Since a single recipe for good English pronunciation does not exist because of the learners&apos; differences in age, abilities, and native languages, effective pronunciation instruction should combine holistic strategies that would be beneficial for all, such as visualising the articulatory processes and developing the ability to make informed phonological choices and age-specific targeted practice of problematic areas of L2 pronunciation. The workshop integrates multiple pronunciation exercises into a complete learning cycle involving working with English segments, stress patterns, suprasegmentals, and connected speech processes. It also suggests practical tips for making classroom pronunciation instruction more versatile and comprehensive.)The presentations were followed by a Round table discussion moderated by dr.
