The half-day pronunciation workshop entitled “Teaching the Sounds of English” took place on December 5 (9:00–12:30) at the Faculty of Arts, Palacký University Olomouc. For the second year, it was organized by the Department of English and American Studies. The workshop targets pre-service and novice in-service teachers of English as a foreign language.A total of 35 participants attended: 3 teachers, 4 students from the Faculty of Education, 27 students from the Faculty of Arts and 1 faculty from the Faculty of Arts.The first part of the workshop, “Heads, Hands &amp; Hearts: Active Pronunciation for Lower and Upper Secondary Classrooms,” included a lecture by Dr. Červinková Poesová from the Faculty of Education at Charles University and a practical presentation of hands-on activities that “get learners exploring English sounds while engaging cognitively, physically, and emotionally.” This part was led by Mgr. Barbora Müller Dočkalová, who is an instructor at the Faculty of Education (Charles University), a doctoral student at the Academy of Performing Arts (DAMU) and an acclaimed children’s author, winner of the Magnesia Litera Award in 2025.The second part of the workshop was an online lecture “Empowering Educators to Teach Pronunciation Using the Color Vowel® Chart” delivered by Gemma Archer from the University of Strathclyde. Her session introduced the Color Vowel® Chart (Taylor &amp; Thompson, 2019) as a practical, multisensory tool for integrating pronunciation into regular lessons. Through visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic techniques, participants explored how the Chart’s routines make core features of intelligible English, such as stress and vowel length, accessible to both teachers and learners.
