Original language description
The 2-(4-aminosubstituted-3-nitrophenyl)-3-hydroxyquinolin-4(1H)-ones have been studied to evaluate their fluorescence properties and possible usage as molecular fluorescent probes. Amino group of these derivatives was substituted with various alkyls having suitable terminal functional group (such as hydroxy or amino group) that could serve for binding 3-hydroxyquinolin-4(1H)-one (3HQ) fluorescence label to a biomolecule. Beside simple hydrocarbon chains, also ligands containing ethylenoxy units as optimal spacers were tested. Structure-fluorescence properties relationship and theoretical applicability of the studied molecules is discussed.
