The study was focused on mapping the distribution of v-factors and v-phenotypes of B. lactucae occurring in natural populations of L. serriola in the Czech Republic. Large variability in virulence of natural populations of B. lactucae was found. Differences were recorded in the distribution of v-phenotypes among individual spatially isolated sub-populations of this pathogen. However, variation in virulence was proved also within individual sub-populations.
