This article considers issues relating to the dubbing or subtitling of films and TV programmes of foreign origin. In the Czech Republic, dubbing is almost universal on TV; the author points out a range of disadvantages of this approach, both in terms ofentertainment and of the huge potential for foreign language learning that the massive use of dubbing destroys.
