This paper deals with teaching listening to students at the Department of English, Faculty of Education, Palacký University, Olomouc. It discusses students' attitudes to and their difficulties in listening and students' results in several listening testsare analysed. The analysis is related to students' performance in different listening tasks, i.e. note completion, sentence completion, multiple-choice questions, true/false questions and multiple matching.
