Sign language for deaf people is a natural means of communication that allows them to explore the world around them, . The Deaf minority share sign language, culture, education, a rich history, beliefs, values and customs. This paper is based on the thesis that pays attention to the teaching of Czech sign language in primary schools for the deaf in the Czech Republic, which has recently been introduced to the school curriculum. The paper presents the results of one of the sub- research theses, which islanguage awareness of pupils II. primary schools for the hearing impaired. The research focused on user perception of sign language for pupils, their level of knowledge regarding the theory of sign language and its position in society (Deaf culture).
