Accessibility of Websites for Individuals with Visual Impairment in Relation to Validity of the Source Code in Tertiary Education

  • Original language description

The paper is aimed at determining the specifics of website accessibility for visually impaired individuals in the context of source code validity according to the W3 consortium at individual universities in the Czech and Slovak Republic. In 2015, we analysed the relation between validity and e-Accessibility at 106 public, state and private universities in total. Our results have confirmed the important finding that even despite the generally defined requirement for source code validity in the context of e-Accessibility, the actual relation between the source code validity and the resulting rating of the particular website e-Accessibility is relatively low. Within the correlation analysis, we have evaluated the rate of relations between the source code validity and the e-Accessibility rating by using the Pearson correlation coefficient. The analysis resulted in negative value of the correlation coefficient (r = -0.27).
