Creative approaches offer effective ways for intervention in students with special educational needs that are based on heterogeneous possibilities and the goals of creative techniques. Theories of creative approaches in Czech special education were created mainly on the basis of interdisciplinary transfer. Contemporary analyses show that in some aspects these theories do not reflect the needs and the reality of educational and social institutions in the Czech Republic. In this paper the authors analyse the possibilities and limitations in the development of theories for creative approaches on the basis of an interdisciplinary transfer of experiences from the area of expressive therapies, art philetics and art education. Their work is based on a comparison of the conclusions of several research studies and data published in special education literature. According to the authors further research is needed for the development of an adequate theory in the area of creative approaches. In the conclusion of this paper research question are drafted.
