Social Network Use and Pre-Service Teachers Life Satisfaction and Self-Esteem
Original language description
Social networks represent today an important tool for interpersonal communication among adolescents and young adults, which enables users to share and create information. Today many millions of people around the world are connected by being members of various Internet social networks. Studies have shown a connection between the individual personality of the user and the way he or she behaves on line, however existing research on the relationships between social networks and people's life satisfaction and self-esteem tends to be limited in the Czech Republic. Monitoring the social network behavior increases the knowledge about the specific group of pre-service teachers. The aim of the research focuses on the relationship between life satisfaction and self-esteem among users of social networks. The participants were 548 pre-service teachers aged 19-24. To determine the empirical data we used the following standardized research methods: Life Satisfaction Questionnaire, Rosenberg Self- Esteem Scale and Sociodemographic questionnaire. A relationship was found between Life Satisfaction and Self- esteem among social network users, as well as gender differences.
