Original language description
The present study is based on research regarding bullying in the workplace, specifically targeted at elementary schools teachers in the Czech Republic. The sample consisted of elementary school teachers who had been exposed to regular bullying by their colleagues or senior executives for at least six months. The main objective of the present research study is to extend the database of knowledge on the issue of workplace bullying and to map out the consequences of workplace bullying among teachers. In the present qualitative research, the data collection method was a semi-structured interview. The data were processed by means of the embedded theory method with subsequent data decoding for the purposes of data interpretation, conceptualization and subsequent integration. Based on an analysis of the teachers’ responses the main findings focus on the consequences of bullying for the teachers, especially in terms of psychological problems (of a long-term nature) and disturbed physical health.
