Original language description
The culture (more than 3 weeks) of explanted tobacco leaves on a MS medium containing 0.8 mg.l-1 2,4-D, 0.5 mg.l-1 BAP and 13.2 mg.l-1 aspartic acid produced callus, globular and bipolar structures. These structures resembled somatic embryos and showed numerous abnormalities and fasciations, but they had a developed root apex. The microscopic analysis of bipolar structures indicated the presence of meristematic tissues with dividing cells in the root apex. In the callus the tracheary elements were observed. Formation of secondary globules was frequent on different parts of primary globules and/or bipolar structures.
