Molecular analysis of apical dominance in Pea (Pisum sativum L.)
Original language description
The growth stimulation/inhibition of axillary pea buds is accompanied by changes in the mRNA expression levels of specific genes. Axillary buds from the second primary scale excised from 21-day-old pea (Pisum sativum L. cv. Vladan) plants were used as amodel system for studying the release of buds from apical dominance without the influence of other plant organs. The isolated buds were transferred onto basal medium with or without a supplement of phytohormones and cultivated up to 24 h. The expression of PsDRM1 and PsDRM2, as dormancy markers was followed. The abundance of PsDRM1 and PsDRM2 mRNA in buds declined after decapitation.
