Hormonal and molecular analysis of axillary bud growth initiation in pea

  • Original language description

The growth stimulation/inhibition of axillary pea buds is accompanied by phytohormone level changes (auxin, cytokokinins) and changes in the mRNA expression levels of specific genes. Axillary buds from the second primary scale excised from 21-day-old pea(Pisum sativum L. cv. Vladan) plants were used as a model system for studying the release of buds from apical dominance without the influence of other plant organs. The isolated buds were transferred onto basal medium with or without a supplement of phytohormones and cultivated up to 24 h.
