Content of some heavy metals (Pb, Cd) Mesocestoides perlatus (Cestoda) and the host Accipiter gentilis (Aves)
Original language description
Using atomic absorption spectrophptometry, the content two heavy metals (Pb, Cd), in the strobila of the tapeworm M. perlatus (Goeze, 1782), was determined. The same heavy metals were also determined in the liver and the muscles of the host A. gentilis L. In the tapeworms biomass the following values of Cd and Pb (in 100 percent dry matter in mg/kg) were determined: Cd=0.40, Pb=0.31. In the host liver tissues Cd=0.28, Pb=0.26. In the muscles of the same host Cd=0.35, Pb=0.13 deserves special attention. The concentration of Cd, which is in a ununsually higher content contrary to the content of Pb deserves special attention. Especially the differences (Pb:Cd) in the muscles of A. gentilis were high.
