Accumulation of some heavy metals (Pb, Cd) in Confluaria capillaroides (Cestoda) and the host Podiceps cristatus (Aves)
Original language description
Using atomic absorption spectrophptometry, the content two heavy metals (Pb, Cd), in the strobila of the tapeworm C. capillarioides, was determined. The same heavy metals were also determined in the liver and the muscles of the host P. cristatus. In thetapeworms biomass the following values of Cd and Pb (in 100 percent dry matter in mg/kg) were determined: Cd=0.74, Pb=1.31. In the host liver tissues Cd=0.07, Pb=0.19. In the muscles of the same host Cd=0.06, Pb=0.22. The results show differences in thevalues of the content of Pb:Cd in the strobila of the tapeworm, Pb values were almost 2x higher. Great differences were also in the content of Pb:Cd in the tissues of the liver and muscles. In the case of Cd the content were more 2x lower in the liver and more 3x lower than the muscles tissues.
