Twelve dairy cows were used in an experiment at which the effect of yeast culture addition on the rumen fermentation was studied. Animals were divided into experimental and control group, each of them about 6 individuals. Feeding ratio consisted of maizesilage (12 kg), meadow hay (0.8 kg), clovergrass silage (18 kg), crushed maize ears silage (6 kg) and corn mixture 2 kg. The feeding ratio in the experimental group was with 5 g yeast culture of SC (Strain 47) per day and cow. The rumen fluid was takenperorally 2-3 hours after feeding. The results indicate that the Saccharomyces cerevisiae SC-47 additivum within the ratio recommended has affected positively on the rumen digestion (a higher production of volatile fat acids, a higher pH value) in comparison with control group. At feeding with Saccharomyces cerevisiae SC-47 the trend of number increase in protozoa in the cowś rumen fluid and a better use of ammonia were found.
