Effect of the composition of commercial feed mixture on total lipid, cholesterol and fatty acids content in broiler chicken meat
Original language description
Four sets of chickens (10,12,20,12) were included in 4 cycles of the commercial fattening. The fatty acid pattern varied due to the different ratios of the feed mixture components. The linoleic:alpha-linoleic ratio ranged 5,2-41,0. Total lipid content inbreast and thigh meat of chickens was determined after the tissue extraction by a hexane/isopropanol mixture. Cholesterol was determined by HPLC and 15 fatty acids by GC. The different composition of the feed mixture did not influence cholesterol content in breast or thigh meat. But, cholesterol concentration in total lipids increased with decreasing linoleic acid content and with increasing palmitic acid content in the dLinoleic acid and alpha-linoleic acid content differed significantly between the feeding cycles both in breast and in thigh meat. Pufan6/n3 ratio of the diet influenced same ratio in breast muscle but not in thigh muscle.
