The performation of wood plates under ballistic impact.
Original language description
Experimental results on the ballistic testing of plates made from different woods are presented. Wood plates of different thickness have been impacted by three different projectiles (7.62 bullet, ball 5.3 mm ín diameter and sharp fragment) at differentvelocities ranging form 20 to 900 m/s. limit velocities V50 have been determined. These velocities have been compared with the mechanical properties obtained by using of the Hopkinson Split Bar Technique. The simple analytical model of the penetration in wood targets has been suggested. A reasonable agreement of the measured values of the projectile residual velocities with computed ones has been reported.
