Equine genotyping for parentage determination and identity testing using microsatellite markers
Original language description
We evaluated the length polymorphism of eleven equine microsatellite markers (AHT4, AHT5, HMS2, HMS3, HMS6, HMS7, HTG10, HTG4, HTG6, HTG7 and VHL20) in two sets of animals of different origin (Set A and B). The results indicate a high polymorphism of themarkers (4-9 alleles) for which the polymorphic information content ranged from 0.444 to 0.843. The highest coefficient of theoretical heterozygosity was obtained for microsatellites VHL20 and HMS7 (0.859 and 0.790, respectively). The highest polymorphism information contents (PIC>0.70) were estimated for microsatellites HMS7, HTG10 and VHL20 in all breeds. The probabilities of paternity exclusion/one parental genotype unavailable/parentage exclusion were 99.95%/98.63%/99.99% for Set A and 99.91%/98.14%/99.99% for Set B.
