Current trends in the diagnosis of bovine cysticercosis
Original language description
Bovine cysticercosis is a zoonotic disease caused by the larval stage (metacestode) of the human intestinal parasite Taenia saginata. Bovine cysticercosis remains an economically important parasitic disease for the livestock industry by affecting food safety. The routinely performed standard meat inspection (Regulation (EC) No. 854/2004) has a low diagnostic sensitivity for the detection of T. saginata cysticerci infections. The aim of study The present study was designed to use the ELISA test for estimation of the seroprevalence of bovine cysticercosis at farm and individual level.
