Metabolite profiling of serum from horses with atypical myopathy
Original language description
Serum samples from 8 horses with atypical myopathy (AM) and 12 control horses were analysed using high performance liquid chromatography (Ultimate 3000, Dionex) with aminopropyl column (Luna 3 mým NH2, 2 x 100 mm, Phenomenex) coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (QTRAP 5500, AB Sciex). A total of 168 metabolites were detected. The results from unsupervised statistical methods show obvious separation of group with AM and control group. The biggest differences were found in levels of glycine conjugates (isobutyrylglycine, hexanoylglycine, suberylglycine, phenylpropionylglycine), acylcarnitines (C5?C18) and purine metabolites (inosine, hypoxanthine, adenine, adenosine). When compared purine and pyrimidine metabolism of controls and horses with AM an elevation of most metabolite levels is observed.
