The article deals with different arguable approaches of Russian and foreign scholars to the question of the influence of bilingualism on the language personality's intellectual development. Arguments about the influence of bilingualism on man's intellectual progress are presented. The unifying idea of he text is the idea that bilingualism has a positive influence on a language personality's intellectual evolution if the child is motivated to the intellectual and emotional potential of intercultural communication.
