In the traditional face-to-face education process there is a little space for customizing a course according to abilities and expectations of individual students. Using e-learning approach students may navigate through e-course with more freedom concerning access frequency, progress path, learning pace and intensity. In the paper we propose some suggestions how to provide higher variability in course content, assessment and time management while taking into account students' individual background knowledge, skills, and interests. Our approach is based on experiences with e-courses provided at the Faculty of Informatics and Management, University Hradec Králové. As the audience vary from future financial managers to technically oriented students with very good programming skills, customized e-courses would better address their individual needs.
