The economic performance of states depends on the quality of their educational system, and human capital is the most efficient production factor, expressed through the knowledge, competences, creative abilities and moral traits of the members of the society. The goal of knowledge management is to produce a positive return on an investment in people, processes, and technology. The aim of this paper is to identify how knowledge management can improve the standard of a university in general and why it is essential for universities in Pakistan.
