Social software applications have got quite firmly embedded in the process of education at all levels of the national educational system as they open the door to new channels of communication, conveying knowledge, developing, storing and sharing materials in the virtual space. Real world is being enriched with the virtual space which is valued beside other features for creativity and innovations which it enables and fosters. The goal of this study is to explore the benefits of YouTube with respect to their use for the educational purposes. YouTube is classified as content based social network. The profile is not so much important as in Facebook. One of the benefits is that content based social networks are usually accessible to all without necessity to create an account. Next benefits are sharing materials, higher students' involvement, demonstrations in form of video, music or pictures. Results are important not only for the academician sphere, but also for the companies. The methods used for the analysis included a method of literature review of available sources in the acknowledged databases such as Web of Science, Scopus or Springer exploring the issue of YouTube with respect to educational purposes was used. Furthermore, other sources cited in the analysed studies were also examined. Secondly, on the basis of evaluation of these literature sources, the researched issue was explored. The review study is important not only for academicians and students, but also for the business community. They can alert thanks to the shared materials.
